Abstract
Process for cooling a workpiece (1) in a cooling zone (10) with feeding of a coolant to a cold box (3) and then thru one or more nozzles (5) into the cooling zone. The coolant is a liquefied gas or a gas/liquid mixture whose latent heat of vaporization is used to cool the cold box and the workpiece surface. The liquefied gas can be liquid nitrogen-, hydrogen-, helium or argon. The liquefied gas mixture can contain carbon dioxide and/or methane. An independent claim is included for a workpiece cooling device.
