Abstract

The washbasin body (1) has a peripheral rim (20) adhered to its planar top edge (2) via an adhesive layer (25), for providing a mounting flange with a support edge (22) extending beyond the washbasin body, for supporting the latter from a carrier, e.g. a worktop (10). The support edge can rest on the worktop or be counter-sunk into the surface of the worktop, e.g. with an LED illumination device positioned in a gap between the worktop and the washbasin body.
