The bronzing method is for items printed under vacuum using pearly lustre pigments, partic. with gilding effect, and comprising glossy scales coated with titanium dioxide with a thin coloured layer of fused Cr oxide or Cr phosphate. The non-free -flowing pigment is brought into the free-flowinq state for bronzing the printed sheets by the supply of energy loosening the agglomerate structure of the particles and delivered continuously and evenly over the feed gap of the application roller and in a quantity such that the sheets receive the necessary covering force. The non-adhering quantities are then brushed off the bronzed sheets into a collector vessel while the sheets are discharqed and stacked. The collected pigment is returned and mixed with the incoming quantity.
