Abstract

1. A guide unit (1) for holding containers (7) in the hold (22) of a ship comprising posts (2) which extend in a vertical direction through the hold and which mounted displaceably on at least one guide rail (32, 33) extending through the hold and on which guides are provided for accommodating respective side edges which define the container in a perpendicular direction, characterised in that a plurality of posts (2) are secured in parallel relationship to each other at the spacing of the width of a container (7) to a respective cross-member (3) which spans across the hold (22) and which at its two ends is mounted displaceably on a respective guide rail (32, 33) and at least two of which extend in parallel relationship to each other at the spacing of the length, which extends transversely with respect to the width, of the container (7).
