Abstract

A resealable lid for a carbonated beverage can (12) has a sealing flap that is slidable from an initial, sealed position to an unsealed position and then back to the sealed position. The sealing flap is joined by a single, central rubber pivot (150) and provides a seal through a rubber continuous sealing liner (127) secured to the sealing flap. A projection (123j) is broken when the sealing flap is first rotated from the sealing position to contact a stop portion (123i). An independent claim is also included for a method of opening and resealing a positively or negatively pressurized beverage can including unsealing a pressure equalization port, sliding a sealing flap to an open position, resealing the pressure equalization port and sliding the flap to a re-sealed position.
