Abstract
The rotating parts of the crane are driven by gearing from an electric motor controlled by an actuator in response to measurements of its rotational speed and torque. When the load suspended from the jib is swinging forwards during run-up of the motor and rotation of the jib, the driving torque is reduced as the speed increases. When the load is swinging backwards the torque is maintained at a substantially constant value. <IMAGE>
