Abstract

The electrochemical sell is used for the treatment of water and/or aqueous solutions. It includes an internal and external electrode and ceramic diaphragm. The internal electrode has a middle part and pointed ends on both sides where the diameter of every pointed end is no more than 0.75 of the diameter of the middle part. The external electrode is mounted around the internal electrode in an upper and lower dielectric insulator, and the ceramic diaphragm is coaxially positioned and is mounted in the interelectrode cavity formed in the electrode chamber of the cell. Both the external and the internal electrodes are connected to the positive and negative pole of the current source. The cell also includes an upper and lower dielectric collection head each having an axial groove and being fitted in insulation chutes being adapted to revolve in them. The diaphragm is fitted by means of elastic stuffings fitted in the insulator chutes. The diameter of the middle part of the external electrode is determined by the formula 2M<D<4M where: D is the diameter of the middle part of the external electrode in mm and M is the distance between the electrodes in mm. The length of the middle part of the external electrode is either shorter than the length of the external electrode with a value of 2M, or is longer than the length of the external electrode having a value of no less than 2M. 18 claims, 13 figures
