Abstract

A container (1), useful in particular for serving, conserving and transporting foodstuffs, has at least one bottom (301B) and one lid (301A) provided with aligned, mutually opposite shell-like cavities (5). An interconnecting member (203) is shaped on the lid. The bottom and lid are held together by an intermediate connecting member designed as a sealing ring (203A) that surrounds at least one cavity and is at least partially elastically deformed. A stable unit is thus obtained that is easy to assemble and that encloses foodstuffs in an hermetic and air-tight manner. As the sealing ring has a H-shaped cross-section profile, the rims of the bottom and lid may be form-fittingly accomodated between the branches of the H-shaped cross-section profile, without requiring further closure devices. This closure mechanism may be easily undone by hand, so that the individual parts may be separated and separately cleaned. In addition, the bottom and lid are provided with an insulating body to reduce heat loss.
