1. A device for the transversely displaceable suspension of a letter-file in what is called a lateral filing unit, comprising two parallel carrier rails at different levels as well as in what is called a vertical filing unit, having two parallel carrier rails at different levels, by means of suspension members (2, 2', 3, 3') which prevent longitudinal displacement of the suspended letter files and have angled ends to form carrier lugs and which are each arranged to be swung to a limited extent on a base plate (1, 1'), which base plates are connected to the rear cover carrying the aligning device, and at those corner zones of the rear cover that are adjacent the rear of the file, the base plates having stops (11, 11', 12, 12', 13) for limiting the degree of swing of the suspension members (2, 2', 3, 3') that is determined, on the one hand, by the location of the suspension members (2, 2', 3, 3') in the operative position in which the ends of the suspension members (2, 2', 3, 3') project beyond the rear cover and on the other hand, by the location of the suspension members (2, 2', 3, 3') in the inoperative position, in which the suspension members (2, 2', 3, 3') are located within the range delimited by the mutually parallel lateral edges of the rear cover, characterized in that a suspension member (2, 2') for the lateral filing unit as well as a suspension member (3, 3') for the vertical filing unit are arranged to be swung about the same axis (4).
