Abstract

When washing the blanket in an offset printing machine, the time the cleaning liquid is allowed to act on the ink residues and the paper dust is important. In order to save time and waste paper, provision is made for a further application of cleaning liquid on the side of the blanket cylinder (3) opposite the washing beam (4). Thus the prespraying surface is larger and the residence time of the cleaning liquid on the blanket is longer until the wet soiled places come to be wiped off. The wiping-off takes place using a cleaning cloth (5) which absorbs the dirt. Further removal of the dirt takes place in the web-fed printing process via the web (1) which runs off in contact with the blanket cylinder (3). The efficiency of the blanket washing is increased. The distribution of the cleaning liquid over several places on the circumference of the blanket cylinder (3) leads to the desired high feed rate of cleaning liquid.
