Abstract
1. Thread-cutting steel capable of withstanding dynamic stresses and possessing high strength, even without quenching, as well as excellent suitability for machining by cutting operations, which steel is intended for the manufacture of machinity components subjected to high stresses, characterized in that in addition to iron it contains 0.20 to 0.70 % (by weight) of C, 1.20 to 3.00% (by weight) of Mn, at most 1.00 % (by weight) of Si, at most 0.04 % (by weight) of P, 0.05 to 0.11 % (by weight) of S, at least 0.10 % (by weight) of pb, 0.001 to 0.03 % (by weight) of Ca, 0.001 to 0.005 % (by weight) of B, 0.007 to 0.035 % (by weight) of N, 0.03 to 0.20 % (by weight) of Nb and/or of V, at most 0.25 % (by weight) of Zr and/or of Ce, at most 0.2 % (by weight) of Be and/or of Bi and at most 1.00 % (by weight) of Mo and/or of Ni.
