Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the preparation of kneadable wax substitutes.
It has already been proposed (German Patent Nos. 234502 and 253965) to treat wool fat or the unsaponifiable thereof in the presence of basic agents or without such with air, oxygen or oxidizing agents, whereby one waxy masses for varnish, varnish and Polishing compounds and paint production. In contrast, the invention aims to produce waxy masses which can be kneaded well and which can be used with advantage as a substitute for Japanese wax or putty wax.
The invention consists essentially in the fact that wool fat is mixed with hard wax (such as montan wax, carnauba wax, candelilla wax or Chinese insect wax), oxidized with concentrated nitric acid at a temperature not exceeding 1300 ° C., thereby obtaining waxy kneadable masses of the nature specified above. The previously proposed treatment of mixtures of paraffin u. Like. And resins with air does not lead to the easily kneadable masses obtained according to the invention; the oxidation of this mixture with nitric acid is impossible, since the resins are largely decomposed.
The kneadable wax substitute obtained by the present process can be stretched with paraffin or resins.
EMI1.1
the aqueous components and washing out of the acid residues are a good substitute for Japan wax or putty wax, which can be diluted with paraffin, earth wax, resins or with a wax substitute obtained in another way.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for the preparation of a kneadable wax substitute, characterized in that a mixture of wool fat and hard wax (such as montan wax, carnauba wax, candelilla wax or Chinese insect wax) is oxidized with nitric acid at a temperature not exceeding 1300 C.
