Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf Kappen mit verstellbarer Kopfweite, deren Rand oder Stirnband einen zwischen Stoff und Futter eingelegten, in der Weite verstellbaren, versteifenden Streifen enthält.
Es ist bereits bekannt, Kappen durch verschieden starkes Zusammenziehen eingelegter oder am Stirnband befestigter Bänder auf verschiedene Kopfweiten einzustellen. Die Faltenbildung der Kappe bei Verengung wurde entweder in Kauf genommen oder dadurch verhindert, dass das Stirnband und die anschliessenden Teile der Kappe bis zum Deckel einander mehr oder weniger übergreifen, was naturgemäss einen Schönheitsfehler darstellt.
Die Erfindung bezweckt jede Faltenbildung im Stoff der Kappe zu vermeiden und besteht darin, dass der Stoff des Stirnbandes durch eine oder mehrere Ausnehmungen unterbrochen ist und der Oberteil

Einlage für weiche Kappen.
Der Oberteil der Kappe ist mit 1, der Rand. welcher im vorliegenden Falle als Stirnband ausgebildet ist, mit 2 bezeichnet.
Um die Kopfweite verstellen zu können, ist in das Stirnband zwischen dem äusseren Stoff und das Futter ein Streifen 3 aus Pappe od. dgl. eingelegt, dessen Enden einander übergreifen. Der Streifen wird etwas länger bemessen als der grösste in Betracht kommende Kopfumfang und ist zweckmässig am Kappenschirm angenäht, während die Enden hinter das eine Ende des Schirmes zu liegen kommen. Die Verstellung der Kopfweite erfolgt durch Verschiebung der beiden Streifenenden zueinander. Eine unbeabsichtigte Erweiterung beim Gebrauehe wird z. B. durch eine ausserhalb des Stirnbandes angeordnete Bandschlaufe verhindert.
