Auspufftopf.
EMI1.1

Von wesentlicher Bedeutung ist ferner, dass an den Umkehrstellen der Stromrichtung die Querschnitte der Kegelrohrstückenden so bemessen sind, dass die Abgase beim Übergang von einer Kammer zur andern keine Raumverengungen vorfinden. Es muss also der Kreisringquerschnitt beim Eintritt der Abgase in die zwischen den Rohrstücken 1 und 2 liegende Kammer K2 mindestens so gross sein wie der Kreisquerschnitt beim Austritt aus der Kammer i ;

Muffler.
EMI1.1
The exhaust gases flowing through the exhaust valves of internal combustion engines are usually passed through a muffler, the muffler, which has the task of cooling down the hot exhaust gases, the exhaust, to the air as silently as possible.
These mufflers now have the disadvantage that the exhaust gases to be discharged have to overcome resistance, so that the unhindered exit of the exhaust is not possible, which rather experiences disturbances, d'e can become so significant that the energy generated by the engine is reduced which is very unpleasant, especially with weaker machines. The usual muffler design aimed above all at soundproofing without the damaging influence of the exhaust
EMI1.2
so the pot became complicated and no longer allowed the necessary easy cleaning of the fume cupboards, so that these were clogged by residues, which in turn resulted in flow resistance.
The subject of the invention is a muffler which, with a simple design, allows the purpose of largely soundproofing to be achieved, but at the same time not only does not hinder the outflow of the exhaust gases by resistances, but supports it by letting in powerful suction.
According to the invention, the exhaust is guided through several conical pipe sections 1, 2, 3 plugged into one another, reversing the direction of flow several times, so that its relaxation is as constant as possible from the moment it leaves the valve until it leaves the air, but with the proviso that the progress of the relaxation is gradually increased from chamber to chamber as a result of a certain increase in dimension, which has the effect that the pressure drop, which increases more rapidly from chamber to chamber, has a powerful suction effect on the previous chamber, which suction effect up to the actual exhaust outlet from the Machine continues backwards.
According to the invention, the change in dimensions from chamber to chamber is achieved in such a way that the angle of inclination of the conical surfaces 1, 2, 3 is increased from chamber to chamber. In the schematic representation shows

is. This arrangement has the effect that the voltage drop from chamber to chamber becomes faster, which establishes suction in each chamber compared to the previous one.
It is also of essential importance that the cross-sections of the ends of the conical tube piece at the reversal points of the flow direction are dimensioned in such a way that the exhaust gases do not find any space constrictions when passing from one chamber to the other. The circular cross-section when the exhaust gases enter the chamber K2 located between the pipe sections 1 and 2 must therefore be at least as large as the circular cross-section when the exhaust gas exits chamber i;
Furthermore, the circular ring cross-section at the entrance into the chamber Ka must be at least as large as the circular ring cross-section of the chamber K2 at the exit point, the radii of the cone 1 with f;, of the cone 2 with fg, f4 and the radius of the

Immediately after the turn, increase the flow cross-sections faster than before due to the change in the angle of inclination.
The inventive design of the muffler resolves the progressive relaxation of the exhaust gases in a series of steady relaxations, which increase gradually from chamber to chamber and are interrupted at the reversal of the flow directions by sudden further small voltage drops. The chamber. The suction effect that increases the chamber is the result of the design described.
The muffler according to the invention is easy to dismantle, has only smooth surfaces, so that frequent cleaning is possible without any difficulty. The execution does not cause any difficulties and the simplicity of the design ensures a low weight.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Exhaust muffler, formed from nested conical pipe pieces through which the exhaust is discharged while reversing the direction of flow several times, characterized in that the inclination of the cone walls from the innermost conical pipe piece to the outermost one, which is decisive for the continuous relaxation of the exhaust, is greater, so that So the flow cross-sections grow faster from chamber to chamber, the relaxation of the exhaust continues faster from chamber to chamber, which creates a suction effect from chamber to chamber in the direction of flow, which is applied retrospectively to the actual exhaust outlet from the valves.
