In manchen Fällen kann die Verteilung derart erfolgen, dass eine gewisse Menge Aluminium im Metall verteilt wird, beispielsweise beim Giessen in Gussstücken. Dies ist aber nur bei gegossenen Teilen durchführbar und selbst da ist es möglich, dass das Aluminium die Teile so hart und spröde macht, dass sie nicht bearbeitet werden können.
Gemäss der Erfindung wird also daher vorzugsweise das Aluminium in das Metall eingeführt durch eine vorstehend angegebene Vorbehandlung der Erhitzung mit Alunüniumpulver unter Ausschluss der Oxydation : Ist das Metall in dieser Art behandelt worden, so wird es durch mehrere Stunden hindurch bei hoher Temperatur erhitzt, um das Aluminium durch das ganze Metall hindurch zu verteilen. Zufriedenstellende Resultate wurden bei der Behandlung durch etwa sechs Stunden und bei einer Temperatur von zirka 10000 C erhalten. Hierauf wird das Metall wiederum in einer im Wesen gleichen Art behandelt, d. h. in Berührung mit Aluminiumpulver erhitzt, um den Aluminiumgehalt der äusseren Schicht, der während der hohen Erhitzung durch Diffusion nach innen abgenommen hat, zu erhöhen, worauf es'für den Gebrauch geeignet ist.
