Description

 EMI1.1

 EMI1.1

For the production of water-permeable films, e.g. B. those made of cellulose (viscose), the sensitive salt, z. B. bromide generated in such a way that the film is successively in two baths, for. B. treated in a bath made of nitric acid silver and then in a bath made from potassium bromide.
 EMI1.2
Using a silver bromide bath to cause the silver bromide to penetrate the interior of the film; because this salt is not soluble in water, and on the other hand it is necessary to use water in the production of photographic films from water-permeable films.

However, if you want to simplify the treatment by using only a single bath, the procedure according to the invention is as follows: If, for example, you consider silver iodine, which is equivalent to silver bromine in terms of sensitivity, you know that this salt is insoluble in water but in an aqueous one Solution of potassium iodide is soluble.

According to the invention, an aqueous solution of potassium iodine is produced in which silver iodine is dissolved until it is saturated. The film is placed in this bath and, as soon as it is sufficiently impregnated, removed, whereupon the excess liquid is squeezed out and the film is then immersed in water. The dilution of the potassium iodide solution that takes place in this process causes a considerable amount of silver iodine to be released, which is deposited inside the film and makes it sensitive. The same result can be achieved, for example, using a warm solution of silver bromide in alkaline bromides.
