however, any other valve or the like can be attached, since the invention does not extend to this.
Before the air is let into the reservoir A and as long as the contents of the same are under atmospheric pressure, the plug c (Fig. 3) is removed and the required amount of alcohol or any suitable hydrocarbon is poured into the
EMI2.2
guided air now remains accumulated in the reservoir until the energy of the same is to be used. While the air is being compressed and as soon as the tension thereof reaches the tension prevailing in the space c2 of the chamber c, the air bursts the liquid column out of the tube b and penetrates through the liquid in the chamber C in such a way that the pressure in the space c2 becomes the same, like in the reservoir itself.

is released, thereby increasing its tension.
The hot gases generated by this combustion mix with the air flow which enters the container D and from here into the hood E and into the pipe a. Due to the gradual expansion of the air in space c2 to the extent that the tension in the reservoir decreases, the combustible liquid is gradually conducted into the container D. Therefore, through the

is needed when the voltage has dropped to a minimum, at which it no longer appears suitable for generating force.
The present invention increases the work efficiency of the air by the heat of the combustion taking place in the reservoir in such a way that a greater work output can be achieved with a given amount of air in the same period of time than with the same amount of air if it is not heated. In practice it appears possible to supply so much @ heat that the work performance of the air is increased by 50%. This invention also avoids the disadvantage of cooling the machine and the pipes as a result of the expansion of the compressed air.

Reservoir extends through the same a tube d into the container D, through which tube an igniter H can be introduced into the container (see Fig. 2).
An expedient form of the igniter is illustrated separately in FIGS. At the outer end

PATENT APPLICATION:
1. Method for increasing the energy of stored compressed air for the purpose of locomotion of a movable body, e.g. B. a torpedo, characterized in that at the time or about the time of starting the engine a combustible liquid is ignited in a reservoir containing the compressed air, which liquid is gradually introduced into the reservoir and is burned therein for almost the entire working period of the engine , such that the stored compressed air is heated almost all the time it is consumed.
