work better the fresher they are. Older solutions often tend to cause irritation as a result of changes that the substance undergoes in the solution.

It was surprising that the preparations which can be produced according to the invention would be durable, since the silver compounds are sensitive to light, heat and acids and do not form durable compounds with any salt.

Suitable additives have already been made during tabletting in order to obtain good tablets. The bodies used for this, such as mercury chloride, are quickly and easily soluble on their own. The double salt of mercury chloride and sodium chloride (Schmidt, Textbook of Pharm. Chemistry 4th ed. 1898, page 984/5) lags considerably behind that of the pure sublimate in terms of disinfecting power (Zeitschrift für Hygiene 1897, vol. 25, pages 46-50) .

Example: One part by weight of the silver compound obtainable according to Example 1 of Patent Specification No. 1304 is carefully triturated with two parts by weight of sodium acetate, finely sieved and. pressed in tablet form. Instead of the above-mentioned silver compound, other protein silver compounds can also be treated with other salts of acids, such as. B. the potassium, zinc, aluminum salts of phenylethyl acetic acid, phenyl diethyl acetic acid, benzoic acid, p-toluenesulfonic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, boric acid and the like. a. The proportions between the silver protein compound and salt can also vary within wide limits. Likewise, other suitable additives, such as. B.

Milk sugar, tragacanth, gum etc. can also be made, furthermore, in order to achieve rapid disintegration of the pressed sticks in the body secretion, the acid in question mixed with the calculated amount of carbonate alkali salt can be incorporated into the silver protein compound, which has the consequence that such sticks in the Introduction into the urethra to be exploded with carbonation.
