Description

 EMI1.1

 EMI1.1

A very simple and inexpensive means of increasing the secondary voltage that generates the ignition spark in magneto-electric ignition machines is that a short-circuit winding is provided on each of the two magnetic poles, which during operation of the ignition apparatus caused changes in the magnetic resistance, armature reaction and periodic interruption of the armature current Magnetic field weakens and thereby enables the generation of a voltage almost corresponding to the maximum value of the field.

The effect is greatest when the short-circuit winding is attached as close as possible to the pole pieces or to the pole pieces themselves.

However, this short-circuit winding directly causes a deterioration in the high-voltage effect to a certain extent. This is at the same time also caused and in its degree conditioned by the strength of the permanent magnet. Since the short-circuit winding prevents the magnetic reaction that closes via the permanent magnet and is harmful to its strength, the high-voltage effect can still be increased by the short-circuit winding, because the deterioration of the same due to the short-circuit winding is less important than the improvement caused by the maintenance the strength of the permanent magnet is achieved.

According to the invention, this short-circuit winding is formed by the pole shoes themselves.

For this purpose, the pole shoes are placed as a closed body on the ends of the permanent magnet in such a way that they completely enclose the same.

An embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing. 1 and 2 each show a longitudinal section through the magnet, while in Fig. 3 on the left a section according to the ruling. B, on the right one is shown along the line C-D. In all figures, m denotes the permanent magnet, the pole shoes, which are expediently laminated. The pole shoes p also serve as a short-circuit winding. If they are laminated, each layer of them forms a short-circuit winding for itself. In the drawing, stationary permanent magnets are shown, but the invention can also be used when the permanent magnet is rotatable.

The pole shoes can act as a short-circuit winding because they consist of annular lamellae that are isolated from one another. They therefore form just as many short-circuit windings which act as a shield against the pulsation of the lines of force in the magnet itself.
