The height of the shooter a is regulated by means of the one-armed lever c, which in turn is actuated by the float b. In the drawing Fig. 3, for example, a common float for both riflemen is shown. When the water rises above its normal level, the swimmer lifts the shooters and the excess water drains away. So that when the water level falls below normal, the swimmer does not damage the mechanism with his weight, the supports d are driven into the base of the defensive, on which the swimmer then sits. The fulcrum of the lever c lies in a special dock which is arranged above the weir and can be adjusted; the connection with the floating rod is also adjustable in order to regulate the water drainage.

In the lower part of the gate a is an opening of the greatest possible

l'harniere /./ is rotatable against the underwater. In the hanger of this Lapp? grasp the end of the bolt h, which slides in corresponding guides of the shooter.
 EMI1.3
Push upwards and release the flap e, which rotates around its Chamicro f'bis into the horizontal position due to the water pressure, in which the flap either by means of appropriate stops on the cords or by means of suitable protrusions on the edge of the flap or finally is held by a chain and the like.

The chain ? M, which connects the flap e with the float b, is used to bring the flap back into the correct position after the excess water has run off. The electrical signal contact, which is closed when the gate a (Fig. 2) is lifted by the rod n, is used to signal the lock keeper.
