Es ist klar,   dass auf diese Weise das Verfahren nach dem Stammpatent ganz wesentlich vereinfacht wird und dass der Vortheil gegenüber der Verwendung von Retorten mit dem bisher bei der Gasbereitung üblichen Querschnitt ein umso grösserer ist, als solche Retorten bei gleicher lichter Weite ein Mehrfaches der bisherigen Retorten fassen, ohne dass dadurch die Gasbereitung in irgend welcher Weise beeinträchtigt wird. Da sowohl das Einbringen der zu vergasenden Kohle, als auch das Ausbringen des fertigen Koks nicht durch   Ein-und Ausschaufeln bewirkt zu werden   braucht, wird auch der   Vortheil erzielt, dass   man den Retorten eine wesentlich grössere Länge geben kann als bisher.

   Hiebei verfährt man am besten in der Weise, dass man die Retorten aus einzelnen mit Flanschen versehenen Rohrstücken von rechteckigem Querschnitt zusammensetzt. Man kann alsdann je nach dem zur Verfügung stehenden Raum beliebig viel solcher Glieder zu einer einzigen Retorte vereinigen.

It is clear that in this way the process according to the parent patent is considerably simplified and that the advantage over the use of retorts with the cross-section previously used for gas preparation is all the greater as such retorts with the same clear width are a multiple of the previous Hold retorts without affecting the gas preparation in any way. Since both the introduction of the coal to be gasified and the discharge of the finished coke need not be effected by shoveling in and out, the advantage is also achieved that the retorts can be given a much greater length than before.

   The best way to do this is to assemble the retorts from individual flanged pieces of pipe with a rectangular cross-section. Then, depending on the space available, any number of such members can be combined into a single retort.

PATENT CLAIM: Embodiment of the method for gas preparation according to parent patent No. 7193, characterized in that the known gas retorts with a rectangular cross-section of advantageously slightly greater height than width are charged with ground, strongly moistened coal brought into the shape of a press cake of approximately square cross-section and then in usually distilled.
