Kanalofen.

Sewer stove.
Duct furnaces in which a secondary air supply to the main air flow which passes through the cooling chamber and flows to the combustion chamber takes place through small openings are already known. The present invention aims to make the construction of such furnaces cheaper and to enable a finer distribution of the secondary air as well as a more intimate contact of the main air flow with the material to be fired and thereby better cooling of the latter.
According to the invention, this is brought about in that the ceiling or the walls of the cooling chamber are made from sheet metal boxes with a perforated bottom or inner wall, through whose holes the secondary air supply takes place. Such a replacement of the usual masonry in the ceiling or the walls of the cooling chamber with sheet metal boxes obviously makes the furnace construction much cheaper, just as the forced-in air is evidently better distributed through the fine holes in the box wall than through the holes in brickwork, which are not so can be attached close together like in a sheet metal.
In the drawing, the discharge end of a duct furnace arranged in this way is shown schematically in a vertical longitudinal section. a is the furnace's cooling chamber, b are the kiln trolleys. According to the invention, the
