Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for cleaning mineral, tar and similar oils and their distillates.

The usual process for refining mineral oils using sulfuric acid has certain well-known disadvantages. To avoid them, various proposals have been made, which are mostly based on extraction, fractionated precipitation or
Based on absorption.

The fact that the well-known extraction processes from Landsberg, Däschner and Diamand were not able to secure a wider distribution is partly due to the fact that they. Regardless of whether they are intended to have a selective effect or only to dissolve the asphalt materials, etc., require significant amounts (five to ten times) of expensive, highly volatile extractants, which causes great losses of such, on the other hand because the Products always contain certain groups of hydrocarbons that are unstable in nature and cause problems such as resinification etc. when used. They have to
Products of the extraction process are also subjected to post-refining with acid, since odor and color are mostly distributed in all fractions.

The latter also applies to the Edeleanu processes, particularly in the manufacture of lubricating oil, because, as a result of the use of liquid sulphurous acid, the raffinates obtained are all acidic
Contain parts, react acidic and are dark in color.

It has now been shown that there are agents in the organic amides which act both chemically by acting on the acidic, color and odorous components, and physically by dissolving unsaturated, cyclic etc. hydrocarbons, the saturated, aliphatic ones etc. leave hydrocarbons undissolved.

Example: 100 kg of mineral oil distillate are mixed with 100 kg of aniline. Here, two layers are formed, of which the upper one is a light, refined oil that mimics
Distilling off the last aniline residues yields about 92 kg of finished product.
