Negative carbon electrode for headlights.
It has been proposed to make negative electrodes for headlights more conductive by adding larger or smaller amounts of graphite to the carbon mass. However, such carbon electrodes show many disadvantages due to the inevitable inhomogeneity of the mass. According to the present invention, the negative electrodes consist of a perfectly uniform graphite mass, which can only be obtained if the electrodes are brought into the electric furnace after shaping and graphitized therein in the manner known per se.
According to the present invention, carbon electrodes are graphitized to the extent and at such high temperatures that their specific resistance is below 10 ohms. It has been shown that this completely avoids uneven burn-off, unsteadiness of the light, excessive heating of the electrode and all other disadvantages of electrodes made in a different way and only containing graphite.
