Wasserkammern neben diesen in Zickzackform verlaufen.

Heat sinks for automobiles.
The invention relates to a heat sink for motor vehicles.
For better cooling of the water chambers, not only air currents are arranged between them, but also air chambers that are closed at both ends, and similar. Water chambers next to these run in a zigzag shape. Air enters these cooling chambers through slits, brushes past the wall of the water chambers to cool them, and exits again through slits. These slots are offset from one another to deflect the air as it passes and to lengthen its path.
FIG. 1 is a plan view of a piece of such a heat sink, FIG. 2 is an elevation, FIG. 3 is a side view of an air chamber, FIG. 4 is a section through an air chamber, FIG. 5 is a side view similar to FIG. 3 on a larger scale. Fig. 6 is a sectional and end view of such a chamber, and Fig. 7 is a perspective view.
The water chambers A have the walls a-a, the front and rear ends of which

In the same way, the air chambers B are made from walls bb, and the zigzag-shaped tubes A and B are laid, as can be seen from FIG. 2, so that they abut each other in certain spaces, and regularly leave the spaces D free, the front and rear are open and serve as drafts.
In order to make the chambers B accessible to the flow of air, they have the entry openings 1 and exit openings 2 between the ends, namely such openings are provided in each of the two walls b-b of each chamber.
That wall part of the walls b, which lies tightly against the corresponding part of the water chamber, is denoted by b1 in FIGS. 5 and 6. It is perpendicular, while the other parts are at an angle. The upper and lower edges of this part are now provided with longitudinal cuts that go approximately to the middle. The cut 1 goes on the lower edge of the part Cl from the front to the middle, the cut 2 on the lower edge from the back to the middle. At the outer ends of these longitudinal cuts 1 and 2, short cross-sections are attached, not in part b 'but in the sloping wall parts; For example, such a short transverse slot is provided in the inclined part above the slot 1, and another transverse slot is provided in the inclined part below the slot 2.
The tongues 3 and 4 formed by these adjoining slots are now bent out of the inclined parts, into the trains D, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 6. The air flowing into the air chambers has to deviate from the straight line and flow in different planes in order to be able to exit. The tongues 3 and 4 also form deflection devices in the trains D and thus also force the air into a longer path here.
PATENT CLAIMS: I. Heat sinks for motor vehicles, characterized by air chambers (B) which, similar to the known zigzag water pipes (A), are closed at the front and rear, are located close to the water pipes and have side openings to allow the cooling air to enter and exit allow.
