  Einrichtung zur Beobachtung der Alphastrahlenwirkung. 



   Es ist bekannt, dass die   Alphast. rahlen radioaktiver Substanzen aut   einem Leuchtschirm aus Zinksulfid oder anderen, in gleicher Weise auf Alphastrahlen reagierenden Körpern, Aufleuchten hervorrufen. Man bedient sich'zur Demonstration dieser Wirkung des von Crookes   (1903)   angegebenen Apparates, bestehend aus einem inaktiven Leuchtschirm, dem auf einer Zeigerspitze ein Körnchen alphastrahlender, radioaktiver Substanz innerhalb der Reichweite der Strahlung gegenüber gestellt wird, derart, dass die durch den Aufschlag der Alphastrahlen im Dunkeln hervorgerufenen Szintillationen (Lichtpunkte) durch ein Mikroskop (Lupe) beobachtet werden können. 



   Der Nachteil dieser Einrichtung besteht darin, dass dieselbe die Verwendung eines relativ kostspieligen Quantums radioaktiver Substanz erforderlich macht und daher nicht geeignet ist, als wohlfeiler Lehrbehelf zu dienen. 



   Durch die vorliegende Erfindung wird dieser Übelstand dadurch behoben, dass das Mikroskop (Lupe) mit einem Leuchtschirm in Verbindung gebracht wird, der mit einer hochgradig verdünnten Lösung einer radioaktiven Substanz präpariert wird oder aus einer Schichte schwach-radioaktiven Zinksulfids o.. dgl. besteht, so dass lediglich eine Spur radioaktiver Substanz zur Verwendung gelangt und die Einrichtung in billigster Weise hergestellt werden kann. 



   PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE : i. Einrichtung zur Beobachtung der Alphastrahlenwirkung, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass ein Mikroskop (Lupe) mit einem Leuchtschirm kombiniert wird, welcher mit einer hochgradig verdünnten Lösung radioaktiver Substanz präpariert ist.

   It is known that the alphast. Radiation of radioactive substances on a fluorescent screen made of zinc sulfide or other bodies that react in the same way to alpha rays, cause illumination. To demonstrate this effect, use is made of the apparatus specified by Crookes (1903), consisting of an inactive luminescent screen with a grain of alpha-emitting radioactive substance placed opposite it on a pointer tip within the range of the radiation, so that the Alpha rays in the dark caused scintillations (points of light) can be observed through a microscope (magnifying glass).



   The disadvantage of this device is that it requires the use of a relatively expensive quantity of radioactive substance and is therefore unsuitable as a cheap teaching aid.



   This drawback is remedied by the present invention in that the microscope (magnifying glass) is connected to a fluorescent screen which is prepared with a highly dilute solution of a radioactive substance or consists of a layer of low-level radioactive zinc sulfide or the like. so that only a trace of radioactive substance is used and the device can be manufactured in the cheapest way.
