Air duct for recooling the cooling water on vehicles.

The invention relates to an air duct, which is closed laterally all around and is horizontally directed over most of its length, for recooling the cooling water on vehicles and consists in the duct floor rising towards the rear in a slender arch shape, whereby the used cooling air is carried up via the following car and from The water entrained in the air is collected and returned to a collecting container.

In the channel, the air should be opposed as little resistance as possible by the wall. The resistance required for the regulation and adjustment of the air speed with respect to the duct wall should mainly result from the distribution of the water to be cooled that is guided through the duct. On the other hand, precautions should be taken to collect the once used cooling water as completely as possible and to be able to use it again for further condensation of steam. This collection should be done in such a way that the draft required for the re-cooling is countered with as little additional resistance as possible. The drawing shows an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.

Fig. I shows a central vertical section, Fig. 2 shows a horizontal section in Fig. I according to the line 4-B-C through a device formed according to the invention, by means of which the cooling water required for the condensation is recooled on a steam locomotive. The water to be cooled enters the upper, closed water chamber 2, the bottom 3 of which contains a large number of holes "4" through the pipe 1. The water to be cooled falls through these holes to the collecting container 5 and is pumped through the tank by a pump (not shown) Sucked off pipe 6 and fed to the condenser for reuse as cooling water.

The locomotive has the direction of travel indicated by arrow i, so that air can flow in the direction of arrow II through the air duct delimited by the walls 3, 7, 8, 9. In this channel the resistance to the air flow is mainly to be opposed by the falling water threads in order not to let its relative speed increase too high. This prevents too much water from being carried away by the air.
