Insulating material consisting of alternating layers of paper and mica covering the underneath
Using a binder under heat and pressure are combined.
The drawing shows the insulating material forming the subject of the invention, which consists of alternating layers of paper a and mica b, which are combined with one another in a known manner using heat and pressure. According to the innovation, the binding agent consists of a mixture of natural and synthetic resin.
The insulating sleeves for the winding of hot-voltage machines are usually made of mica and paper, both combined with the application of heat and pressure by a natural resin such as shellac. In recent times one has with great

Consideration of the favorable behavior of this material in case of temperature increases. This
Synthetic resin has now proven itself in insulating materials that consisted only of paper under a wide variety of conditions, but difficulties have arisen as soon as one wanted to use these synthetic resins in the usual tubes or plates made from mica preparations. It was found that the material is particularly thin
Layers was extremely brittle and that the adhesive strength was insufficient for the thin mica flakes.
It has now been proposed to first bind the mica flakes with natural resin and then to combine them with paper using synthetic resin. However, this requires a cumbersome working process in that two operations with different materials are required.
According to the invention, this process can now be simplified and the advantages of the natural resin can be combined with those of the synthetic resin by using as binders for the production of mica materials which consist of paper and mica and which are combined with one another using heat and pressure uses a mixture of natural and synthetic resin. The natural resin then increases the adhesive force and elasticity of the end product, while the synthetic resin provides the temperature resistance and the excellent electrical properties of the entire material.
