Die Vorkammer (links) ist mit einer passenden Menge Beschickungsmaterial gefüllt ; der Boden c wird nach rechts geschoben, wobei das Material von der Wandung a" abgestrichen und eine Materialschicht h gebildet wird, deren Oberfläche vom Lichtbogen bestrahlt wird. Die Reste der Materialschicht gelangen dann in die rechte Vorkammer b, aus welcher sie mittels des Kratzers k entfernt werden. Alsdann wird frische Beschickung eingeführt und derselbe 'Vorgang aufs neue vorgenommen.
Der Ofen kann mit zwei oder mehreren Elektroden arbeiten und mit Gleichstrom, Wechselstrom oder Drehstrom betrieben werden. Der Lichtbogen kann entweder frei zwischen den Elektroden spielen oder gegen die Beschickung abgelenkt werden.
Man kann auch die Reduktions-, Beschickungs- und Schlackenkammern abwechselnd anordnen, entweder in mehreren Reihen nacheinander oder in einem geschlossenen Kreis, wobei der Boden entsprechend bewegt wird.
PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE :
1. Verfahren zum kontinuierlichen Abdestillieren von Zink und anderen flüchtigen Metallen im elektrischen Strahlungsofen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Beschickung als gleichmässig ausgebreitete horizontale Schicht in den Reaktionsraum des Ofens eingeführt und der Bestrahlung durch den Lichtbogen somit derart ausgesetzt wird, dass die Reaktion wesentlich an der Oberfläche der horizontalen Beschickungsschicbt erfolgt.
