Process for the production of red protective covers.
The invention relates to a method for producing rust inhibitors.
The fact that oils such as linseed oil, rapeseed oil etc. with sulfur, at suitable tem. Bringing temperatures together to deliver condensation products has long been known.
Sulfur chloride has a similar effect as sulfur and, depending on the amount of reagents added and the level of the reaction temperature, products ranging from syrup consistency to solid, friable masses are obtained.
Products of a tough, rubber-like character are obtained when an oil, e.g. B. linseed oil or mixtures of such oils with resin can be heated to 170 to 2000 C and at these temperatures as long as sulfur is introduced in small portions until the mass can be pulled out to non-breaking threads. When cooling down
EMI1.1
that this mass and mixtures of the same with asphalt, pitch, tar or other substances that can be used as rust protection, applied in a suitable manner to metal, adhere extremely tenaciously to the same, follow any expansion of the same with temperature changes without cracking, insulate primarily against moisture and electrical currents and offer significant resistance to mechanical influences.
The following examples may serve to illustrate the implementation of the invention:
100 parts of oil, such as B. Linseed oil and 100 parts American resin are under
EMI1.2
sulfur is added in small portions until a sample taken out can be pulled out into threads. If this point is reached, then - using the heat of reaction appropriately to dissolve - add 100 parts of tecl oil or other solvents, such as low-boiling fractions of crude petrol, carbon tetrachloride! cn- stoff, carbon disulfide, benzolousw. to; add 500 parts of anhydrous coke oven tar and immerse metal objects in this mass at a temperature of 150 C or above, e.g.
If, for example, iron pipes have cooled, they are covered with an extremely adhesive protective layer, which has the properties mentioned above
You can also dissolve the oil-resin mixture treated with Schwofel in the manner indicated, after cooling to 1000 C, in varnish essence or another of the above)) volatile solvents (equal parts) and then add 100 parts of asphalt to this mixture add varnish essence in 100 parts. When applied to the metal, this preparation leaves a protective coating with similar properties as stated after the solvent has evaporated.
