Unterhalb des Bodens 19 ist an dem Gehäuse 8 ein besonderer Raum 21 abgeteilt, welcher sich ebenfalls wie die Räume 12 und das Heizschlangensystem 15 über die ganze Länge der Maschine erstreckt. Dieser Raum 21 dient zur Aufnahme eines Kühlmittels, beispielsweise kalten Wassers, das bei 22 eintritt und bei 23 austritt.
Die Wirkungsweise der Maschine ist die folgende :
Die auf die Stoffbahn a aufgetragene Streichmasse wird beim Hindurchgehen zwischen dem Heizraum 12 und dem Heizschlangensystem JfJ erhitzt, so dass sich die flüchtigen Kohlenwasserstoffe, beispielsweise die Benzingase, verflüchtigen und den Raum 18 ausfüllen, wobei auch die sich zwischen den Stoffbahnen a, b und der Unterwand des Raumes 12 bildenden Gase an den Stellen 10 nach unten hin in den Raum 2' ! ! durchtreten können. Hier werden die Gase durch Berührung mit dem kalten Boden 19 kondensiert, so dass sie sich beständig in flüssiger Form auf dem Boden 19 niederschlagen und aus den Rohren 20 abfliessen, um so ständig wiedergewonnen zu werden.
