In the previous description is not. has been mentioned that each subsequent turn which is applied to the sleeve a; is always placed next to the previous turn by a small amount. This is achieved by a suitable choice of the speed ratio between the thread guide and the bobbin spindle and is a well known feature of the universal bobbin system. When winding wire spools according to the method of the invention, it has proven to be useful to enlarge the space between the individual yarn turns so that the turns, instead of being placed close to one another, are wound at small intervals, as shown in the middle part of Fig Figure 2 clearly shows.

As a result, the yarn layer between the wire layers becomes thinner and the arrangement of the threads which pass through between the wires and reinforce the bobbin becomes better. At the ends of the bobbin, however, the turns of the yarn are wound close together, which serves to make the bobbin ends more resistant and harder. However, the details described last are only additional features and are not essential to the basic idea of the invention. Rather, this consists in piling up more insulation material or yarn at the coil ends than between the wire tiers in order to achieve stronger and stronger coil ends.

In the preceding description of the invention, a particularly expedient embodiment of the same has been explained, but other embodiments are also possible.

For example, instead of winding the insulating material on the coil ends in just one short additional turn, it has been found useful in some cases to make several such turns. Furthermore, in other cases where very thin yarn was used for insulation and reinforcement, the additional short ones have proven to be useful
