Die Stoffbahnen werden zweckmässig in einer Farbe gefärbt, die der der Imprägnierungsschichte gleich oder nahe kommt, welche nach Färbung der Stoffbahnen auf diese aufgetragen wird.
Es hat sich nun gezeigt, dass zur Erzielung einer Färbung des Kunstleders nicht die Nitrozelluloseschichte durch Vermischung mit Pigmentfarbstoffen gefärbt werden muss, ehe sie auf die Stoffbahn aufgetragen wird, sondern, dass die Färbung der Schichte auch nach Imprägnieren der Stoffbahn mit farbloser Nitrozellulose oder Zelluloidschichte vorgenommen werden kann.
