Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Verfahren und Vorrichtung zur Elektrolyse von Halogenalkalien.
EMI1.1

Process and device for the electrolysis of halogenated alkalis.
EMI1.1
the hydrostatic pressure of the electrolyte above the diaphragm is partially eliminated by changing the pressure of the gas (hydrogen) forming in the cathode space. The variability of the counterpressure is achieved by an adjustable valve device arranged in the discharge pipe of the cathode space.
According to the invention, the hydrostatic pressure deb electrolyte is partially eliminated by regulating the negative pressure at which the chlorine gas developing in the anode space is kept.
The chlorine gas has also been sucked out of the anode compartment until now. However, this is only done for the purpose of preventing the chlorine gas from escaping from the container at leaky points and thereby on the one hand contamination of the atmosphere of the work space and on the other hand chlorine gas losses. Therefore the vacuum is only about 10 m water column. By increasing this negative pressure, the hydrostatic pressure of the above the diaphragm

speed and, accordingly, the desired alkali concentration is achieved.
In order to get the same lye all the time, the suction device for the chlorine gas can be provided with an adjustable regulator. This makes it possible. precisely adjust the filtering speed during the process, even if the diaphragm filter becomes less permeable due to sedimentation of the salt.
PATEXT A1 SPARKS:
1. Process for the electrolysis of halogenated alkalis according to the horizontal diaphragm principle according to parent patent no. 65960, characterized in that the chlorine gas that forms in the anode compartment is kept at a variable negative pressure in order to increase the filtration speed by partially eliminating the hydrostatic pressure of the electrolyte regulate.
