Abstract
The invention relates to a fret wire for plucked instruments with a head area and shaft in a T-shape. According to the invention it is provided that the material of the collar wire (1) is the titanium alloy TiAl6V4 8 (No. 3.7165 or 3.7164). The response of the respective instrument is improved.

The invention relates to a fret wire according to the preamble of claim 1
Fret wire is a workpiece, several pieces of which are in fingerboards for
Plucked instruments tapped in cross grooves, glued or glued to the
Play to shorten the string and change the pitch. Typically, each halftone has its own fret wire.
The cross section of the fret wire 1 has the appearance of a "T" with the top
1 has an approximately semicircular shape and the shaft 2 with two holding prongs
3 and 4 is provided. The fret wire 1 is then worked into a fingerboard of a plucking instrument 5.
The invention is based on the fact that instead of damping materials such as softer nickel silver alloys or brass, the titanium alloy TiA16V4 (No. 3.7165 or 3.7164) is used, and as a result impulses, vibrations and harmonics of a string are transmitted much better to the plucking instrument.
The density of the titanium alloy and the vibration behavior are responsible for the fact that impulses, vibrations and overtones are not damped but are transmitted directly and precisely.
Due to the density of 4.42 kg per dm3 and the tensile strength of at least 890 N / mm2 with the associated modulus of elasticity, this alloy is extremely well suited for this purpose.
The width and length of the fret wire is adjusted to the fingerboard. The fret wire is drawn or machined.
The wear is significantly lower compared to brass or nickel silver because of its high strength.
The success is clearly audible, since the response of the instrument and the brilliance as well as the load-bearing capacity of the tone are decisively improved, since there is practically no damping of the impulses, vibrations and overtones due to a softer nickel silver alloy or brass.
The titanium bundle wire is absolutely inert, there is no reaction in case of skin contact.
In order to brighten and differentiate the sound, it is also possible to coat the coil wire with titanium nitride or tungsten carbide in the PVD process (physical vapor deposition process).
The coil wire can also be colored by anodizing or by thermal treatment.
