An

EMI1.1
EMI1.2
takes place by at least two articulated rods without one of the connecting joints of the rods coinciding with one of the crank pins. The pivot points of the rods do not need to be guided because the torque is only transmitted from one side of the shaft to the other by the shafts themselves. All rods suffer from alternating tensile and compressive loads and the load on the journals, as with every crank operation, also changes.
Figures 1 and 2 illustrate embodiments of the invention. In Fig. 1 it is assumed that a is the driving shaft, whereas b and c represent the driven shafts. At

are. The corresponding arrangement of the rear consists of the cranks t, nt, M, the rods o, p, q and the pivot point ,. The shaft a rotates in the direction of the arrow. If only the rear cranks 1, m, s were present, the torque could not be transmitted, because the rod o would only cause an oscillating movement around the joint
EMI1.4
happens in the position shown from the front. Because here the crank d presses by means of the rod g on the joint k and through the intermediary of the rods h and i on the driven cranks e and f.
Since these can move downwards, the shafts b and c rotate, which also entrains the cranks m and a. After another 9 () 0 rotation, crank d has reached a dead position and the torque is transmitted from crank l; This creates a constant power transmission through the interaction of the two crank systems offset by 900.
In Fig. 2 four shafts are drawn, in which the transmission rods on each side are not combined in a single point of articulation, but act on four different articulation points connected to one another. Fig. 3 also shows a parallel crank mechanism with four axes. Two of the connecting rods are in a straight line and the number of joints between each two cranks in a group is limited to the practically possible minimum.
It is unimportant for the invention how many of the waves come into consideration as driving, how many as driven. It is also irrelevant that the mentioned technical effect is not achieved by all arrangements that fall within the scope of the invention. The decisive factor is the knowledge that it is possible and useful to drive the cranks on each side through rods that are articulated to one another.
In addition to those crankshafts that belong to the system described, there may also be other parallel shafts whose cranks are rigid with the cranks of the system in a manner known per se, i. H. are connected without the interposition of special joints.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Device for the transmission of rotary movements by means of crank rods which engage at least three parallel, double-cranked crankshafts, the two cranks of each axis being offset from one another by approximately 90, characterized in that the rods engaging the crank pin on each crank side with their other ends are articulated without the interposition of the two crank sides connecting transmission shafts, so that between two cranks on each crank side at least one movable
Joint is present.
