Thermometer with a scale enclosed by a cladding tube.
The present invention relates to a thermometer with a scale enclosed by a covering tube and is characterized in that the scale is held by springs between the inner walls of the covering tube. This has the great advantage that the scale is held elastically at its exposed ends inside the casing tube and that as a result vibrations of the thermometer are not transmitted to the scale, so that they neither hit the capillary and read, nor damage the casing tube can destroy. Furthermore, the present invention makes it unnecessary to enclose the scale in the cladding tube in such a way that it is only held by the cladding tube.
The invention can be used for thermometers of all types with a scale enclosed by a cladding tube. But especially for clinical thermometers and among these for so-called

the parts in question could not expand independently of one another, which U stress was particularly noticeable when the scale was made of metal. The thermometers mentioned, but especially the clinical thermometers of the known type, showed the obsession that they were not very durable.
The present invention eliminates these drawbacks, since the scale is now

The arrangement of the suspension in question can be different, just as any suitable springs can be used for the present purpose. For example, can

If the walls of the encasing tube are supported, it is expedient to only cushion the free end of the scale, whereby the springs are used at the same time to hold the scale in the encasing tube.
In the drawing, the invention is shown in an exemplary embodiment.
Fig. 1 shows a front view of the thermometer in partial section,
FIG. 2 shows the inner device of the thermometer in a middle section of FIG. 1 on the right to the plane of the drawing, on an enlarged scale.
In the illustrated embodiment, the scale a made of metal lies with its lower end on the wall of the casing tube b, while it is on its upper end

It can be seen that in this way both the scale a and the capillary h are kept elastic on all sides in the enveloping tube, that the parts can expand freely without interfering with one another and that shocks of the thermometer on the sensitive free end of the capillary and the scale are not transmitted or are heavily attenuated during transmission.
Instead of the spiral springs c and d, correspondingly shaped leaf springs or dgL can also be used, but the use of spiral springs is preferred.
