   Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Gleichstromdampfmaschine, bei der besondere   zwangläufig   gesteuerte Hilfsauspuff-Abschlussorgane vorgesehen sind, die bei normalem Gleichstrombetrieb durch Ausrückung ausser Wirksamkeit sind, im eingerückten Zustande dagegen die Maschine im Wechselstrom arbeiten lassen. 



   Die Erfindung besteht nun darin, dass die   Abschlussorgane   für den   Hilfsauspuff   so als federbelastete Ventile ausgebildet sind, dass sie   gleichzeitig als Sicherheitsventil dienen können.   



  Dadurch wird eine wesentliche Erhöhung der Betriebssicherheit mit   überaus einfachen Mitteln   erreicht und namentlich die Gefahr eines   Wasserschlages gänzlich beseitigt,   indem bei etwaigem   Versagen der Kondensation der über die Anfangsspannuns steigende Kompressionsdruck aus dem Zylinder solange in den Auspuff entweichen kann, bis von dem Maschinen-farter die Ver-   stellung der Steuerdaumen für den   Auspubetrieb (Wechselstrombetrieb) vorgenommen ist.   



  Es ist dadurch die Gefahr einer Zertrümmerung der Zylinder gänzlich aufgehoben. was namentlich für solche Maschinen wertvoll ist, welche oft unter den erschwerendsten Verhältnissen und bei   ungeschultem Bedienungspersonal den Betrieb aufrechterhalten müssen. Diese Vorteile werden   erzielt, ohne dass man an eine solche Ausbildung der   Einlasssteuerung gebunden wäre. die   die Wirkung   desEiulassorgancs   als Sicherheitsventil ermöglicht.
