Two slide control for steam engines.
Expansion slide controls for piston steam engines are known which, as single-chamber controls, have the disadvantage that the entire vapor space between the two base slide pistons up to the end of the filling given by the base slide forms a substantial part of the harmful space.
The purpose of the invention is to reduce this harmful space to the smallest possible extent by means of a suitable shape of the expansion and base slide, which are designed to be slidable in one another like a piston.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
In the valve body a with the live steam inlet E and the exhaust steam outlet A, the expansion slide b, which is controllably driven by a linkage e, moves and controls the live steam fed from the annular steam inlet space E through channels K and M to the steam cylinder. The basic slide pistons c on both sides of the expansion slide are firmly connected to one another by bolts d and are in an uncontrollable manner connected to a drive by a hollow linkage f, which is led out of the slide valve body by means of a material sleeve g. The rod e fastened in the hub l of the expansion valve b is guided through the rod tube f of the basic valve in a well-sealed manner.
The two basic slide pistons c have cylindrical piston extensions 1: 1 facing the expansion slide b, with which they enter the suitably machined, likewise cylindrical ends b1 of the expansion slide and are well sealed there by piston rings A. As a result, the disproportionately large harmful space existing between the two main spool pistons in the previous similar controls is limited to an extremely small annular space i surrounding the basic spool on the outside, and there is no need to guide the linkage e through an otherwise necessary high-pressure stuffing box, see above that the hollow rod f only needs to be guided through a low-pressure stuffing box g that is not exposed to high temperatures.
Instead of the internal guide of the cylindrical piston lugs 1 of the base slide, they can also be guided in a longitudinally displaceable and well sealing manner via the correspondingly removed lugs b1 of the expansion slide.
PATENT CLAIMS: 1. Two-slide control for steam engines, characterized in that the base slide piston (c) are provided with cylindrical and in similar approaches of the expansion slide (b), longitudinally displaceable and well-sealing piston attachments (Cl), whereby the between the expansion slide and the two main spool pistons (o) with a conventional design, the harmful space present is pressed down onto a small annular space (i) surrounding the primary spool pistons.
