are made and connected to an intermediate quartz tube 13 of rectangular cross-section, within which the mercury vapor lamp 14 is mounted so that its ends come to rest in the protruding end parts 11 and 12 of the lamp chamber 4. The latter is made of two halves (FIG. 5), which are connected by screw bolts 15 so that they are covered by the middle part of the chamber 1 in the position of the lamp shown in FIG.
The cylindrical opening in the chamber 1, in which the lamp chamber 4 is inserted, is provided with corresponding packing rings 16 and 17, which lie against corresponding extensions of the lamp chamber so that a tight seal takes place, one in a cross piece 19 of the Chamber 1 seated clamping device 18 holds the lamp chamber in the sterilization chamber.
As can be seen from Fig. 1, the lamp chamber has a number of butt plates 6 which are either attached to it or made in one piece with it.
The mode of operation of the device is now as follows:
The liquid entering the sterilization chamber 1 at 2 is circular
Way around the lamp chamber and join; out. Since each liquid particle is turned over during its passage through the device through the push plates and at the same time alternately approached and removed from the lamp, the liquid is completely sterilized.
The interior of the lamp chamber J can also be evacuated so as to increase the efficiency of the device by reducing the absorption of the rays within the lamp chamber down to the liquid. If necessary, the lamp chamber J can also be filled with air or gas under pressure in order to prevent the entry of the liquid from the sterilization
