Sodann werden die Temperaturen von Material und Beförderungsgas allmählich, und zwar ungefähr gleichbleibend, gesteigert.
Es ist selbstredend, dass das zur Beförderung der Erzeugnisse benutzte Gas derartig sein soll, dass es weder nachteilige Änderungen erfahren, noch in Bestandteile zerfallen kann, welche unvorteilhafte Wirkungen auf die Produkte ausüben könnten, bei irgend einer der für das Verfahren in Betracht kommenden Temperaturen. Demzufolge ist die Wahl des Beförderungsmittels auf diejenigen Gase beschränkt, welche während des Betriebes möglichst unverändert bleiben.
In der Praxis entspricht gewöhnliches Kohlengas diesen Bedingungen. Es ist vorzuziehen, die Beförderungsgase ununterbrochen durch die Vorrichtung laufen zu lassen, unter der Bedingung aber, dass sie wieder in die Retorte eintreten bei der passenden Temperatur. In gewissen Fällen wird zwischen Kondensationsanlage und Rücklaufrohr der Gase zur Retorte ein Gasbehälter eingeschaltet.
Vorzugsweise wird die Temperatur eines jedweden Stadiums der Behandlung erst dann höher getrieben, wenn die bei der niedrigen Temperatur entweichenden Destillationsprodukte vollständig abgegeben sind. Auf diese Weise wird der Zersetzung der bei niedriger Temperatur ausgetriebenen Erzeugnisse vorgebeugt und kann das Verfahren verbilligt werden.
Als Erzeugnisse des Verfahrens wird erhalten : Koks (rauchloser BrennstoS), insbesondere geeignet für Hausbrand und Gaserzeugerbetrieb. wertvoller Teer und leuchtkräftiges Gas.

It goes without saying that the gas used to transport the products should be such that it can neither undergo adverse changes nor break down into constituents which could have adverse effects on the products at any of the temperatures in question for the process. As a result, the choice of means of transport is limited to those gases which remain as unchanged as possible during operation.
In practice, ordinary coal gas meets these conditions. It is preferable to allow the transport gases to flow continuously through the device, provided that they re-enter the retort at the appropriate temperature. In certain cases a gas container is connected between the condensation system and the return pipe for the gases to the retort.
Preferably, the temperature of any stage of the treatment is only driven higher when the distillation products escaping at the low temperature have been completely given off. In this way, the decomposition of the products expelled at low temperature is prevented and the process can be made cheaper.
The following products are obtained from the process: Coke (smokeless fuel), particularly suitable for domestic fires and gas generating operations. valuable tar and luminous gas.
