Description

  Buchbindeverfahren.

  Bookbinding process.

Methods are already known according to which the signatures of books, pamphlets or the like, instead of being stapled in the usual way, are combined by a thread by placing it in notches in the folded and lined up signatures or looping it through between the notches becomes. It has been found, however, that the tension that occurs when the thread is pulled or the stitch is opened often causes the thread to slip out of the notches, namely the notches between the signatures.

This drawback is now remedied by the present invention in that the intermediate notches merge into inwardly directed incisions into which the thread is inserted so that it can no longer slip out when it is tightened or due to other causes.

Another feature of the invention is that the reinforcement pieces glued to the top and bottom sheets of the signatures in a row each form a fold by which the notches and threads are covered and protected.

In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment is shown in FIGS. 1 to 6 for a more detailed explanation of the present method.

The folded and lined-up signatures 1, which are provided with differently shaped and mutually directed notches 2 to 4 in the usual way, are combined by a thread which can be seen in FIG. 3 (. 5 i .. M; 15 to 20 ) is looped through the notches, and both ends are tied at 21.

According to the invention, the straight, L.-shaped or curved intermediate notches 3 merge into inwardly directed incisions 28, as can be seen in FIG. 4
