Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the production of photographs having the character of an oil painting.
Attempts so far to give photographs the character of oil paintings have culminated either in copying gauze or in switching gauze on in front of the lens or in front of the plate, or finally in peeling off the photographic layer and transferring it to canvas.
The former two methods hardly gave anywhere near success; the latter required enormous practice and resulted in a great deal of scrap; Furthermore, this only worked for smaller formats.
The subject of the present invention is a very simple and particularly reliable method to achieve this purpose, namely the light-sensitive plate is provided with the linen design either shortly before the picture to be taken or in stock by placing it on a stretched, appropriately white painter's canvas briefly exposed so that the picture to be taken is made on the same plate on which these linen designs have already been exposed.
The procedure can of course also be reversed, i.e. exposing the object first and then the existence of the linen, but the former procedure is considered to be more expedient.
