Das geröstete Erz tritt durch einen Kanal 27 aus, welcher durch einen Schieber 28 normal geschlossen ist. Letzterer öffnet sich nach jeder kompletten Schwingung.

Da bei jeder Schwingung die Erzmenge auf eine Seite des Muffelofen gelangt, ist die Trommel mit Gegengewichten 29 (Fig. 4) zum Ausgleich der Ladung versehen. Auf diese Weise kann die Rnckschwingung derselben ohne grossen'Kraftaufwand eingeleitet werden.
Vom Eintrittskanal 21 bis zum Austrittskanal 27 rollen die Erzstnckchen beständig im Zickzackwege von rechts nach links und von links nach rechts. Auf diese Weise ist die Bildung von Agglomeraten (Klumpen) im Innern des Ofens vollständig ausgeschlossen und die Zinkblende tritt in pulverigem Zustande aus dem Ofen.
Bei dem dargestellten Ausführungsbeispiel ist als Heizmittel Kohlengas angenommen. welches durch die durch den Kanal 11 zugeführte Luft verbrannt wird. Man kann den Ofen auch mittels heisser Luft heizen. In diesem Falle kann auch die heisse Luft zum Oxydieren der Zinkblende direkt durch die Muffel geleitet werden.
