Die Wirkungsweise der Maschine ist folgende : Die zu behandelnden Kragen werden in flachem Zustande mit ihren Knicklinien auf die oberen Kanten des Untergesenks e gelegt (Fig. 2), worauf das Obergesenk durch Niederdrücken des Fusstrittes p gesenkt wird. Dabei werden die der Biegestelle benachbarten Teile der Kragen zu beiden Seiten der Kanten des Untergesenks umgelegt und an dessen Seitenflächen angepresst (Fig. 3). Jetzt wird mittels des   Einrückers   der Antrieb eingeschaltet, wodurch eine Hin-und Herbewegung des Obergesenks innerhalb der durch das Untergesenk gebildeten Führung veranlasst wird. Dabei kann der Anpressungsdruck durch Einwirkung auf den   Fusstritt   p während des Plättens nach Belieben bestimmt werden.

   Ist die Lage der umgebogenen Ecke durch das auf diese Weise erfolgende Festplätten genügend gesichert, so stellt man den Antrieb ab und lässt gleichzeitig den Fusstritt los, worauf das Obergesenk durch die Feder k angehoben wird und die fertig behandelten Kragen abgenommen werden können. 



   Die symmetrische Ausbildung der Gesenke ermöglicht es, stets zwei Ecken gleichzeitig auszubilden. Die Arbeiterin nimmt zu diesem Zwecke in jede Hand einen Kragen und legt die Ecken von beiden Seiten auf die Kante des Untergesenks. Der Antrieb für die Hin-und Herbewegung des Plätteisens bleibt dann dauernd eingeschaltet.

The mode of operation of the machine is as follows: The collars to be treated are placed flat with their crease lines on the upper edges of the lower die e (FIG. 2), whereupon the upper die is lowered by pressing down the footstep p. In this case, the parts of the collar adjacent to the bending point are folded over on both sides of the edges of the lower die and pressed against its side surfaces (FIG. 3). The drive is now switched on by means of the engagement device, whereby a back and forth movement of the upper die is caused within the guide formed by the lower die. The contact pressure can be determined at will by acting on the footstep p during the flattening.

   If the position of the bent corner is sufficiently secured by the paving in this way, the drive is switched off and the footstep is released at the same time, whereupon the upper die is raised by the spring k and the finished collar can be removed.



   The symmetrical design of the dies makes it possible to always form two corners at the same time. For this purpose, the worker takes a collar in each hand and places the corners of both sides on the edge of the lower die. The drive for the back and forth movement of the flat iron then remains switched on continuously.
