  Process for dissolving waste paper.

The subject of the invention is a method for dissolving waste paper.

Tests have shown that the dissolution of the waste paper can be achieved in an impeccable manner simply by mixing the waste paper with the appropriate quantity of water, introducing it into drums with inner ribs and exposing the material to the simultaneous action of the water and the movement caused by the rotation of the drum.

In this way it is possible, in drums of about 1600mm diameter and 1000 tern height and at 15 to 20 revolutions per minute with a force of about 3 HP, a batch of 200 kg of waste paper, which has been mixed with about 200 l of water, to dissolve in about 15 to 20 minutes to such an extent that it results in a good pulp after the subsequent short processing in the Hollander, which is also necessary when using pan mills.

According to this method, the result of the dissolution is thus achieved in a much more rapid manner than, for example, in the case of the Kollergange, with significantly less effort; the batches that can be processed using the new process are also about twice as large as those that can be processed in the pan mill.

1 and 2 of the drawing show a drum which can be used for carrying out the method in two mutually perpendicular sections.

The drum m is, as can be seen from the drawing, on its inner surface with about
4 to 6 cm high ribs which are offset from one another at intervals of 15 to 25 cm; the filling and emptying opening 0 is arranged on the outer surface of the drum m and is covered by a slide or a flap a during work.

The drum is mounted in the usual way on a continuous shaft t and is driven either axially or circumferentially.
