Schleifscheibe zur Herstellung und zum Schärfen der Zähne von Sägeblättern.
Es ist bereits ein Verfahren zur Herstellung und zum Schärfen der Zähne von Sägeblättern bekannt, bei welchem die Zähne durch die beim Schleifprozess entwickelte Wärme zum Glühen gebracht und unmittelbar nachher abgekühlt werden. Die bisher bekannten Schleifscheiben eignen sich zur Durchführung dieses Verfahrens nicht, sie erfordern so grosse Umlaufgeschwindigkeiten, um die erforderliche Wärmeentwicklung zu erzielen, dass dieses Verfahren bisher keinen Eingang in die Praxis gefunden hat. Die Erfindung bezweckt nun die Durchführung des Verfahrens durch Schaffung einer Schleifscheibe zu ermöglichen, welche bei den üblichen Geschwindigkeiten genügende Wärmeentwicklung bewirkt.
Die Schleifscheibe besteht der Erfindung gemäss aus einer Schmirgelscheibe üblicher Ausführung, deren Poren aber mit Schellak, Gummi oder einem ähnlichen Material ausgefüllt sind. Dies ist dadurch erreicht, dass die Schleifscheibe in eine heisse Lösung dieses Materials, vorteilhaft in eine heisse Schellacklösung, eingetaucht, hierauf trocknen gelassen und an der Oberfläche geglättet wird.
Beim Schleifen mit dieser Schleifscheibe wird die für die Durchführung des Verfahrens erforderliche bedeutende Wärmeentwicklung erzielt, da die bei den Schmirgelscheiben üblicher, Ausführung beim Umlauf der Scheibe in den Poren hervorgerufenen, kühlend wirkenden Luftströmungen verhindert sind. Da das Füllmittel der an sich bereits grosse Festigkeit besitzenden Schleifscheibe weich ist und sich leicht abnutzt, so wird der Angriff der Scheibenoberfläche am Metall nicht beeinträchtigt.

A method for producing and sharpening the teeth of saw blades is already known, in which the teeth are made to glow by the heat developed during the grinding process and are cooled immediately afterwards. The previously known grinding wheels are not suitable for carrying out this process; they require such high rotational speeds in order to achieve the necessary heat generation that this process has not yet found its way into practice. The invention now aims to enable the method to be carried out by creating a grinding wheel which produces sufficient heat generation at the usual speeds.
According to the invention, the grinding wheel consists of an emery wheel of the usual design, the pores of which, however, are filled with shellac, rubber or a similar material. This is achieved by dipping the grinding wheel in a hot solution of this material, advantageously in a hot shellac solution, then letting it dry and smoothing the surface.
When grinding with this grinding wheel, the significant heat development required for carrying out the process is achieved, since the cooling air currents which are more common with emery wheels and which are produced when the wheel rotates in the pores are prevented. Since the filler of the grinding wheel, which is already very strong, is soft and wears off easily, the attack of the wheel surface on the metal is not impaired.
