Description

Process for the production of bromination products of multiply halogenated indigos.

The subject of patent specification No. 48682 is a process for the preparation of bromination products of multiply halogenated indigos, which are to be understood as perbromides of at least tetrahatogenous indigos.

As has also been found, the process can also be applied to the monohalogen substitution products, in particular also to the monochlorinated product which is obtained from indigo or indigo white and sulfuryl chloride by careful chlorination according to D. R. Patent No. 168683.

The procedure is that of the parent patent. There are z. B. 10 parts of the monochlorinated product of the D.R.P. No. 168683 with 50 parts of bromine heated under pressure for a few hours on the water bath to about 40 to 600 or to temperatures above 1000.

The so z. B. at 40 to 60 obtained dye can be freed from excess bromine by washing with carbon tetrachloride or by heating in a dry air stream. It is a greenish powder, with a content of 59 # 9% total bromine,: 3 @ chlorine, 22'60 '' with sodium iodine determinable bromine, which dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with greenish-blue color, when heated with water halogenated isatine yeast , in the Hydrosultitküpe cotton and wool in beautiful blue tones.
 EMI1.1
Product is a blue dye that should be interpreted as a chlorotribromoindigo.

If it is heated to over 100, e.g. B. under pressure, you get slightly higher brominated products.
