Description

Process for promoting the growth of crystals by crystallization in motion.

When producing large, well-formed crystals, a certain concentration of the solution and movement of the crystallizing mass are necessary.

As is known, the formation of steam in the solution to be crystallized has proven to be an expedient means of movement.

According to the present invention, this steam is compressed in a surface condenser immediately after it emerges from the cooker and the condensate obtained is allowed to run back fully or partially into the boiling solution in a continuous process, so that a lively movement can take place in this latter due to the development of steam without however, the overconcentration of the solution reaches too great a level which is harmful to the formation of large, well-formed crystals. Due to the smaller or larger amount of the vapor separated from the circuit as condensate, one is able to adjust the growth rate of the crystals and to be able to use it fully.

The movement of the solution to be crystallized out, brought about by the development of the steam, can be increased by rocking or moving the digester.

Although it is already known that when sugar solutions are boiled on grain, the water that precipitates on the walls of the cooking apparatus, the line to the condenser and the juice collector switched on in it, can run back into the cooking apparatus with the juice that is carried away, but the in the Condenser completely removed the amount of vapor deposited from the operation.

According to the invention, the vapor condensed in the surface condenser connected directly to the cooking apparatus is also allowed to run back, wholly or partly, into the boiling solution in continuous operation, so that the development of steam can be increased as desired and thus promotes the crystallization of large, well-formed crystals vigorous movement can be generated in the solution. As a result, the rate of crystallization can be adjusted in a simple manner while avoiding a harmful overconcentration leading to the formation of fine grains.
