 EMI2.1
Tooth has moved further, the elliptical disk 11 has been rotated 90 from the position shown in FIG. The plate 3 together with the glass tube take the inclined position shown in FIG. 2, the mercury flowing from one end of the blow tube to the other and establishing the conductive connection between the two platinum wires. The lamp is now switched on. The excitation circuit (weak current circuit) is now interrupted again and the armature falls back into the position shown in Fig. 1, the pin 6 and pawl 7 move back freely and the upper leg of the pawl 7 lies behind the following tooth, while the glass tube maintains its position.

If the electromagnet is excited a second time, the disc 11 is turned 90 further and the glass tube tilts to the other side, whereby the mercury measures back to the left (Fig. 1) and the contact of the platinum wires is interrupted and the lamp is switched off.

If the switch is to be used for series connection of lamps or series of lamps, two or more discs 11 are arranged next to one another on the axis 8, but these are then designed as quadrants 24 and 35 and are fastened in a mutually offset position on the axis 8 (Fig . 5). A mercury contact rests on each of these disks.
 EMI2.2
if turned again by 900, this lamp group remains switched on and the other lamp group is switched off (Fig. 7); if you turn it further, the first lamp

with further rotation the other group is switched off again (Fig. 5).
